This work was inspired by a zen phrase “随処作主立処皆真” / “Zuisho ni syuto nareba risshiyo minashinnari”
The meaning of this phrase is- Whenever and wherever you are, whatever position you are in, by being proactive and focusing on what you believe in, eventually the truth will come into view.
Even if your environment or position changes… Stay true to yourself and be rooted to who you are.
And by spending time with the truth that already exists in front of you, it becomes a place where you can make the most out of yourself. It’s interesting isn’t it?
Because the path naturally opens up more and more for you to advance forward to even more truth. Light ink is a representation of a rapidly changing society and environment.
Dark ink represents you the way you are, no matter when or where you are.
======= My intentions =======
In this piece, I wanted to create a traditional Zen hanging scroll in more of a modern style. Overall appearance is in a simple light beige color that will blend well with any wallpaper color in both Japanese or in Western-style rooms.
